# How to Verify Your Identity (KYC)

The average KYC process with Terrace takes around **2 minutes**. Complete this step after [creating a Terrace account](/how-to-guides/how-to-create-a-terrace-account.md).

1. In the Terrace website, select the verify now banner at the top of the screen or click on any buttons that say verify identity to continue.

2. The following popup will appear on your screen. Click get started.

3. Use your mobile device to scan the QR code that appears on the screen.

4. On your mobile device, click the get started button.

5. The next few pages will prompt you to input information regarding your name, age, social security number, place of birth, nationality, country of residence, occupation, and address.\

   Depending on your answers to the previous questions, you may be prompted to answer further questions regarding your source of wealth and transaction volumes.&#x20;

6. In order to verify your identity with Terrace, you must provide an ID document. Depending on where your ID document was issued, this can include a government issued driver license, ID card, national ID, passport, or resident card. Please note that your ID document cannot be expired.\

   Select the country where your ID document was issued and the document type you are using to confirm your identity.

6. You many either upload photos of the ID document or use the camera on your mobile device to take pictures of the document. Please ensure that you are using/taking photos of your ID document that have good lighting and are not blurry.<br>
7. After submitting a picture of your ID, you will be prompted to take a photo of yourself using your mobile device. Make sure that your face is inside the frame, clearly visible, and that you are not wearing a hat or glasses.&#x20;

6. Once you have completed these steps, your screen will show that your request for verification has been submitted.

6. Once your request is approved, a banner will appear at the top of your account confirming that you have successfully verified your account. You will also receive a confirmation email.
